General Admission Requirements (All Students)
A. Regular Academic Admission - must be met with one of the following:
- successful completion of a BC high school (Grade 12) or equivalent
- be at least 19 years of age by the first day of the first semester of attendance
- successful completion of an ABE (Adult Basic Education) or GED (General Educational Development) program
B. English Language Proficiency - You must possess a level of English proficiency sufficient to support studies at Langara College and at the level required by your intended program of study.
Note: If you are admitted to a Langara College program on the basis of an English language assessment other than the Langara English Test (LET) or an acceptable grade in English, you may be required to successfully complete ENGL 1107, 1110, or achieve an LET 3, prior to enrolling in ENGL 1100, 1123, 1129, or 1130.

You must possess a level of English proficiency sufficient to support studies at Langara College and meet the appropriate category of English Language Proficiency requirements of your program. Please see Langara's list of programs by category.
There are three category of English Language Proficiency. Verify with the institution directly.

- Duolingo = score of 110 (accepted on a temporary basis for applicants applying for Spring 2022 and Summer 2022)
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher from an English speaking country at a recognized institution where institution is the language of instruction

Admission to Langara requires you to meet the following academic requirements:

BC Transfer Student
BC Transfer Student
If you have completed some post-secondary studies at another institution, you can possibly earn transfer credits toward your current program at Langara College. Please refer to Langara College's Transfer Credit web page. Students transferring between institutions in British Columbia, may refer to the BC Transfer Guide to check course transferability/equivalency.
Upon student's request, up to 60% of Langara College diploma, certificate, and associate degree program requirements may be transferred from another recognized post-secondary institution. These credits must normally be completed within the first 60% of your program.
To request transfer credit, you must submit a Transfer Credit Request Form (available from the Registrar's Office or on Langara's website), an official transcript from the transferring institution, and the appropriate fees.
The deadline for transfer credit to meet program prerequisites* is 10 weeks before the semester begins; the deadline for transfer credit to meet graduation requirements is January 3rd.
Footnote (*): If you need the credit only to meet prerequisite requirements of a course in your program of study, you may also go to the appropriate department with your official transcript for a "pre-requisite override".

Mature Student
Mature Student
If you are at least 19 years old by the first day of your classes, you are considered a mature student. This status enables you to meet Langara's general college admission requirement. In addition, you must also meet the college's English Language Requirement and the specific admission requirements of your intended program.

Conditional Admission
Students currently in Grade 12 who are missing only one course for Grade 12 graduation may apply for conditional admission to Langara. To be considered for conditional admission, you must:
- be currently enrolled in the missing course, maintaining at least a 60% average;
- complete and submit an 'Application for Admission and Readmission Form', available from the Registrar's Office;
- submit an interim transcript of the course that you are completing with a grade of at least 60%
Secondary/Post-Secondary Concurrent Studies
BC Secondary students entering or currently in Grade 12 who have demonstrated academic excellence may apply for limited admission to university-transfer or open career courses while attending secondary school.
Enrolment is limited to three credits each semester. Admission is approved on a semester by semester basis until you have met Grade 12 graduation requirements or turn 19 years old.
To apply under this category you must submit:
- an application for admission, co-signed by a parent or legal guardian;
- a letter of support from your secondary school principal;
- an official transcript of your Grade 11 year; and
- a copy of any interim transcripts of your Grade 12 year (if available).
Appeals for admission and re-admission are accepted at the Registrar's Office up to one week before the first day of classes.
Final Note: Successful registration also depends on you having the required prerequisites for your intended courses or program.

Langara College
Located in beautiful Vancouver, BC, Canada, Langara College started in 1965 as part of Vancouver City College and in 1970, it opened its West 49th Avenue campus. On April 1, 1994, Langara College was established as an independent public college under the Provincial College and Institute Act. The College is also known as house of teachings, a name given to us by the Musqueam First Nation, on whose unceded traditional territory we are located.
