Admission Advice:

1. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency.

You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.

2. The School of Music's audition can be completed in a one-day visit to the campus. Auditions are normally held in February for entry the following September.

3. The School of Music requires that all prospective students demonstrate ability in an accepted performance area (instrument or voice). For this purpose a personal audition is recommended; if an in-person audition is not possible, a recording may be submitted instead. However, it is strongly recommended that you attend one of the Spring audition dates whenever possible.

4.For details on the audition, click here.

5. If you have any other questions about audition or admission requirements, you can contact the School of Music directly.

6. Admission averages are calculated using all required Grade 12 courses for entry to a program. For more details on admission requirements for all applicant categories, see the UVic admissions site.
