1) Program Admission Requirements


1. Students will have usually completed 30 units of 1st and 2nd year coursework at UVic or another recognized post-secondary institution, at the point of admission to this program.

  • Those who have completed at least 12 units of course work may apply to enter the program in second year for ON CAMPUS studies;
  • Students who have completed 27 or more units may apply to enter the program in third year for ONLINE studies.

2. a minimum of (B-) grade point average on the most recent 12 units.

3. Meet UVic's Academic Writing Requirement.

4. Completion of Pre-Calculus 11 or Foundations of Math 12 or equivalent is strongly recommended.

Applicants also have to satisfy UVic's institution admission requirements as listed below.

English Language Requirements


One of the following (minimum scores):

  • 86% on the BC English 12 provincial exam within the last three years
  • 86% in English 12 in another Canadian province within the last three years
  • Level 6 on the Language Proficiency Index (LPI)
  • A score of 4 on the Advanced Placement Exam in English Language and Composition
  • A score of 4 on IB Higher Level English
  • 1.5 units of transferable university level English credits
  • A degree from an accredited English speaking university

If you do not meet one of these requirements, you must write the Language Proficiency Index to determine placement in an appropriate English course
