To work as a treasury professional in B.C., you may choose to earn the Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation. Eligibility can achieved through a variety of combinations of work, education, and teaching experience, and by successful completion of an exam.

To work as a financial planner in B.C., you may choose to earn the Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ (QAFP®) designation. Eligibility is achieved through completion of approved education, and ethics course, work experience, and successful writing of the QAFP exam. This certification can also be a stepping stone to Certified Financial Planner certification.

To sell regulated financial products in Canada, you must be licensed through the Canadian Securities Institute. Once educational, ethical and work experience licensing requirements have been met, the application for registration is handled by either your employer or, if you are working independently, by a sponsoring financial services firm.

Supervisors of finance and insurance office workers supervise and coordinate the activities of workers in the following unit groups: Payroll administrators (13102), Accounting and related clerks (14200), Banking, insurance and other financial clerks (14201) and Collection clerks (14202). They are employed by banks and other financial institutions, insurance companies, and by other establishments throughout the public and private sectors.

Accounting technicians and bookkeepers maintain complete sets of books, keep records of accounts, verify the procedures used for recording financial transactions, and provide personal bookkeeping services. They are employed throughout the private and public sectors, or they may be self-employed.

Administrative officers oversee and implement administrative procedures, establish work priorities, conduct analyses of administrative operations and coordinate acquisition of administrative services such as office space, supplies and security services. They are employed throughout the public and private sectors. Administrative officers who are supervisors are included in this unit group.

Accounting and related clerks calculate, prepare and process bills, invoices, accounts payable and receivable, budgets and other financial records according to established procedures. They are employed throughout the private and public sectors.

Banking, insurance and other financial clerks compile, process and maintain banking, insurance and other financial information. They are employed by banks, credit companies, private and public insurance establishments, investment firms and other financial establishments throughout the private and public sectors.

Accounting: Diploma (Part-time)

The Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance offers you courses in financial accounting, management accounting, and finance, with the option to take a co-op term during your studies. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared to enter business or government in an accounting capacity at an entry or intermediate level. 






Accounting and Finance Advanced Certificate

The Business Administration Diploma, Accounting Option prepares you for a career within business or government in an accounting capacity. You'll develop the background and knowledge to enter business or government in an accounting capacity. You'll take courses in accounting, finance, economics, and marketing. With your accounting diploma from Camosun, you can expect to be employed as an accounting technician or auditor, or in related positions in the accounting field. You can also continue to work towards your designation with the Bachelor of Business Administration.


















Accounting Option: Business Administration Diploma

The Business Administration Diploma is where you would receive training across numerous business concepts, with courses in accounting, finance, strategic management, economics, marketing and more. You'll have the opportunity to take three elective business courses during the diploma, with subjects including money and banking, business administration, finance, international business and logistics and retail marketing. After completing the first two years of the Business Administration diploma, you'll have the option to move into the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program.

The Business Administration Diploma provides you with the expertise to get ahead in today's competitive workplace. Whether you want to work as an administrator in an office, pursue a specialized career in business and finance, or start your own company, you will learn skills to apply practical within your field.

The Accounting and Finance Diploma is aligned with the CPA preparatory program. Students can receive credits towards professional accounting programs. Upon completion of this program, you may transfer your credits to advance your education in Accounting or Finance.

Accounting and Finance Diploma

The Accounting diploma at College of the Rockies offers a solid foundation in financial principles and a pathway to becoming a trusted advisor in business decision-making processes. This program has a focus on sustainability, preparing you to be competitive in the changing business landscape. Upon completion of the Accounting Diploma, you are eligible to take advantage of block transfer agreements the College has with many other Canadian colleges and universities. Transfer is available to most Canadian post-secondary institutions on a case-by-case basis. You can also enter directly into Year 3 of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainable Business Practices degree program at College of the Rockies.

The Accounting Management Diploma offers classes in accounting, communications, computing science, economics, finance and marketing. You’ll get to practise with QuickBooks, Excel, data analytics and Sage 50 Accounting software. Once you graduate, you will be equipped to take on junior management positions, including managing a firm's financial, general or cost accounting areas, accounting information systems, or financial management practices, in small to medium-sized firms.

The Accounting Diploma prepares you for entry-level accounting positions in the work force or to continue their studies at KPU in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting. The Diploma program includes courses in financial accounting, management accounting, finance, taxation and auditing. You will also take courses in economics, business math, business statistics, Simply Accounting, information management, English and communications. Accounting Technician Diploma

The Accounting Technician Diploma provides a broad understanding of skills needed to find employment with public accounting firms working on files and basic tax returns; as payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting clearks in larger organizations. Students can even expand professional opportunities by laddering into a bachelor's degree toward a Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
