To work as a therapist in B.C., you may choose to register with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. Eligibility is achieved by providing evidence of your academic credentials and work experience, as well as references.

This instructional program class comprises any program that focuses on the application of principles of learning and behaviour to enhance the development, abilities, and choices of children and adults; and that prepares individuals to address the behavioural needs of individuals, especially those with developmental disabilities and autism. These programs include courses in behaviour analysis and learning, behavioural and functional assessment, developmental psychology, applied behavioural analysis in developmental disabilities and autism, applied behavioural analysis in mental health and aging, research methods, evaluation of interventions, and professional and ethical issues.

Behaviour Analysis Bachelor's Degrees

Therapists in counselling and related specialized therapies assist individuals and groups of clients to identify, understand and overcome personal problems and achieve personal objectives. They can be specialized to work on specific problems and they may practice psychotherapy. They are employed by counselling centres, social service agencies, group homes, government agencies, family therapy centres, and educational, health care and rehabilitation facilities, or they may work in private practice.

The Applied Behaviour Analysis – Autism Bachelor of Arts Degree trains you in many key areas, including behaviour principles, assessments and applications, supporting individuals with ASD and their families, assessment and intervention planning for children with ASD and using applied behaviour analysis with adults who have ASD and other developmental disabilities. You'll also take part in three different supervised practicum placements to help you gain on the job experience before graduation. Program graduates are eligible to sit for the exam immediately to become Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBA).

Applied Behaviour Analysis (Autism): Bachelor of Arts Degree

The Bachelor of  Arts, Major in Human Behaviour and Applied Psychology program is geared towards students who are interested in careers other than careers of care, including careers in design, business, marketing, human resources, program development and organizational development, among other options. The BA in Human Behaviour and Applied Psychology allows students to gain the skills and experience necessary to enter the workforce directly from undergrad. The program also emphasizes transferrable research skills, preparing students for graduate school and  providing pathways into a variety of industries that exploit quantitative and qualitative data. The program is more rigorous than the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, but includes courses hand-picked by faculty and employers to target hard and soft job skills. This degree is ideally suited for students who are interested in using psychological concepts and behavioural research methods in various contemporary community and workplace settings.

Human Behaviour and Applied Psychology: Bachelor of Arts Degree - Major or Honours

The Bachelor of Kinesiology in Social and Behavioural Sciences prepares you for leadership and instructional careers in a variety of physical activity and sport settings in both public and private agencies. You'll cover topics such as adapted physical education, research methods in kinesiology, exercise prescription, and more.
