This instructional program class comprises any program that prepares individuals to perform invasive, non-invasive, and peripheral examinations of the cardiovascular system at the request of physicians to aid in diagnoses and therapeutic treatments. These programs include courses in reviewing and recording patient histories and clinical data; patient care; investigative and examination procedures; diagnostic procedures; data analysis and documentation; physician consultation; equipment operation and monitoring; and professional standards and ethics.

The  Advanced Certificate in Cardiac Sciences, Cardiac Rhythm Device Technology Option, can further develop your skills to read and manage abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure using implanted devices such as pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices. The program focuses on theoretical and clinical application of electrophysiology, cardiac pathology, cardiac pharmacology, and cardiac physiology. In addition to the theoretical basis in the courses, you will also participate in a clinical practicum. 

Cardiac Sciences (Cardiac Rhythm Device Technology Option): Advanced Certificate (Part-Time)

The Cardiac Sciences Advanced Certificate, Cardiovascular Technology Option, can train you in performing exploratory heart procedures in the operating room. The Cardiovascular Technology program is a post-diploma program, consisting of theory courses delivered online, and three clinical rotations performed in a BCIT approved catherterization lab. Upon graduation, you may be eligible to write the national registry examination of the Canadian Association of Cardio-Pulmonary Technologists (CACPT) and gain the associated credential. 

Cardiac Sciences (Cardiovascular Technology Option): Advanced Certificate (Part-Time)

The Cardiac Sciences Advanced Certificate, Electrophysiology Technology Option, will give you the specialized expertise needed to work in electrophysiology laboratories. Using intracardiac catheter recordings, electrophysiology technologists analyze complex arrhythmia, heart block, and myocardial infarction. The program emphasizes theoretical and clinical application of electrophysiology, cardiac pathology, cardiac pharmacology and cardiac physiology. In addition to the theoretical basis contained in the courses, the clinical practicum offers you the opportunity to practice the fundamentals required to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures during the EP study as well as pacemaker/lead analysis on implant. 

Cardiac Sciences (Electrophysiology Technology Option): Advanced Certificate (Part-Time)

The  Cardiovascular Perfusion Advanced Certificate program can help further develop your skills, as a certified respiratory therapist, critical care nurse, cardiac professional or related degree graduate. You'll gain a strong understanding of cardiothoracic anatomy, physiology and pharmacology, with an emphasis on cardiothoracic pathophysiology, as well as surgical techniques, to prepare for clinical rotations. You'll train alongside qualified clinical perfusionists in the hospital setting, learning the theoretical and practical application of safe cardiopulmonary bypass, as well as taking part in class days, wet lab work, lectures and student presentation. After graduation, you may be offered work in your sponsored hospital.
