This instructional program class comprises any program that focuses on the scientific, humanistic, and critical study of human communication in a variety of formats, media, and contexts. Advertising and Public Relations Practitioners

Managers in publishing, motion pictures, broadcasting and performing arts plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate operations within publishing firms, film, theatre and record production companies and broadcasting facilities. They are employed by radio and television stations, by newspaper, periodical and book publishing firms, and by film, theatre, record and video production companies.

Journalists research, investigate, interpret and communicate news and public affairs through newspapers, television, radio and other media. They are employed by radio and television networks and stations, newspapers and magazines. Journalists may also work on a freelance basis.

The Bachelor of Communication Studies degree combines theory and practice in a project-based curriculum in various areas of strategic communication. In the program, you'll learn critical approaches to media, communication and culture together with applied skills in writing, editing and public speaking. Past graduates work in city halls, non-profits and major industry. 

Communication Studies: Bachelor's Degree

The Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication is about professional writing, public relations, journalism, public speaking and digital communications. You'll learn techniques to persuade through words, graphics and storytelling. You'll study within a larger framework of media and cultural studies, sustainability, Indigenous contexts and globalization. You'll have the option to study abroad for a semester at a partner university in Sweden or Spain. This program is designed for students interested in a career in public relations, advertising, marketing and journalism, as well as corporate, technical and online communication.

Professional Communication: Bachelor of Arts Degree (Third-Year Entry)

The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication is about critical thinking, reading, analysis and production in the field of communication. You will study the cultures, histories, technologies, and ideologies of the media and communication infrastructures in our society. Upon completion of the program, you will be literate in media and information technologies with an understanding of social and ethical implications. Project and group work are used to apply theories of communication to promote social change and community engagement. You'll address the most pressing environmental, economic, technological and political issues in our society through the translation of theory and research into practice and action.

Communication: Bachelor of Arts Degree - Major or Honours

The Bachelor of Communication and Digital Journalism embraces studies in public and strategic communication, media relations, media and technology, multimedia storytelling, digital journalism, visual communication, and digital design. With this degree, you will be ready to navigate flexible opportunities as a digital journalist, a public relations specialist, a media analyst or a content producer.
