They are employed by radio and television stations, by newspaper, periodical and book publishing firms, and by film, theatre, record and video production companies.

Film and video camera operators operate motion picture and video cameras and related equipment to record news, live events, films, videos and television broadcasts. They are employed by television networks and stations, motion picture and video production companies and in-house communications facilities of large corporations.

Workers in other technical and coordinating occupations in motion pictures, broadcasting and the performing arts coordinate and perform specific activities for television, radio and motion picture productions, news broadcasts, theatre and stage productions, and other live or recorded productions. They are employed by television and radio stations and networks, recording studios, motion picture and video production companies, concert promoters and theatre, stage and dance companies.

 The Motion Picture Craft Services micro-credential prepares you for work in the Craft Services in the motion picture industry. You can learn the critical role held by this team including the fundamentals of food and beverage preparation, service and storage. You can develop skills related to maintaining and cleaning equipment and service areas. You can gain competencies to support food services based out of craft kitchens and/or craft food trucks.

Motion Picture Craft Services Micro-credential (NIC)

The Motion Picture Greensperson micro-credential focuses on the responsibilities of the Greens Department on set. The Greens Department is responsible for the greenery, natural or artificial, as required on set and as specified by the film or television script. The department takes care of plants, grass, trees, flowers, living or artificial, and other landscaping materials, including coverings. The responsibilities of the department include the design, planning, coordination, acquisition, installation, planting, maintenance, dismantling, and reallocation of greens-related products. The greensperson is a member of the greens team and a vital member of the filmmaking process.

Motion Picture Greensperson Micro-credential (NIC)

The Motion Picture Grip micro-credential explores the vital role of film grips on set and prepare to enter the motion picture industry. Training will include an overview of how grips work to support configuring the camera and lighting equipment required to execute film or television shoots with professionalism and accuracy. Instructors will also guide you through an introduction to the film and television industry, safety and workplace protocols, the application of sophisticated equipment, tools and specialized grip accessories, industry protocols and more. This micro-credential is recommended to those who have technical aptitudes and also enjoy hard work, collaboration and working in a creative field.

Motion Picture Grip Micro-credential (NIC)

The Motion Picture Lighting micro-credential explores the crucial role of lighting crew members on set and gain fundamental skills required to develop and execute professional lighting schemes on film and TV productions. Topics covered by the program include an industry orientation, safety and site protocols, planning and coordination of work orders, applied learning with fixtures, filters, carts, stands and various applications of advanced equipment and tools. Instructors will also cover planning, set-up and takedown after each shoot. Creative, detail-focused individuals who enjoy problem-solving, teamwork and working long hours will thrive in this program. An electrical background is an asset, but not required.

Motion Picture Lighting Micro-credential (NIC)

The Motion Picture Production Accounting Clerk micro-credential focuses on the accounting fundamentals of film production and prepare for a high-demand, rewarding career in the industry. You will be introduced to the roles and responsibilities of the accounting office during pre-production, production and post-production of a project and gain insight into the accounting office structure within the context of the production and crew. Course material includes an orientation to the accounting system, accounting fundamentals, petty cash, purchase orders, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll, taxation and the application of specific film production hiring requirements, deal memos and production reports.

Motion Picture Production Accounting Clerk Micro-credential (NIC)

The Motion Picture Production Assistant micro-credential prepares you to gain Motion Picture Industry essential skills that will qualify you to confidently pursue employment as a Locations Production Assistant. This program will open the door to a career in film and television providing on-set skills including communication, protocols, film terminology, plus Motion Picture Industry Orientation, Motion Picture Safety and WHMIS certificates which are required to work on set. This micro-credential was developed in partnership with ActSafe and INFilm and is recognized by the Directors Guild of Canada, British Columbia.

Motion Picture Production Assistant Micro-credential (NIC)

The Motion Picture Set Construction micro-credential focuses on  fundamental design, planning and construction skills and starting a career as a carpentry and set construction crew member. Training encompasses an orientation to the film industry and workplace requirements, essentials of worksite safety, communications, key terminology, interdepartmental relations and protocols, roles and expectations, specialty tool requirements and usage, unique attributes of set construction materials and handling, and the fundamentals of set planning, design, construction, and takedown. In an applied setting, students will construct a mock set following the key phases of film and television set construction. This program provides an introduction to the role of the set construction and carpentry crew specific to film production. The carpentry and set construction crew is responsible for designing, planning, constructing, and take down each set.

Motion Picture Set Construction Micro-credential (NIC)

The Motion Picture Set Dresser micro-credential prepares you to plan, coordinate and assemble stunning set décors that will be immortalized on film. You will work under the direction of the lead set decorator, set dressers play a vital role in supporting each set and scene. You will gain mentorship opportunities as well as sector-specific skills to work in BC's growing film and television industry. This program is for anyone who appreciates teamwork and who can combine creative, design and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under tight time constraints.

Motion Picture Set Dresser Micro-credential (NIC)

This micro-credential provides students with the essential skills required to produce high quality online video content. Students learn software skills in video and audio editing, video and audio effects, and animation, using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.
