This instructional program class comprises any program that focuses on the application of the physical, biomedical, and social sciences to the analysis and evaluation of physical evidence, human testimony and criminal suspects. These programs include courses in forensic medicine, forensic dentistry, anthropology, psychology, entomology, pathology, forensic laboratory technology and autopsy procedures, DNA and blood pattern analysis, crime scene analysis, crime scene photography, fingerprint technology, document analysis, witness and suspect examination procedures, applicable law and regulations, and professional standards and ethics.

Forensic Investigation Advanced Certificates

Completion of 60 credits 

The Advanced Certificate in Forensic Investigation, Crime and Intelligence Analysis Option, gives you critical thinking skills necessary for addressing modern-day crimes, internship experience in a law enforcement agency, access to a global network of intelligence professionals and recognition by international professional associations. This program offers a learning experience involving hands-on use of crime and intelligence analysis tools (e.g. visual investigative analysis software, crime mapping and statistical software). This program trains you to develop intelligence end-products that help drive front-line operations and deploy patrol resources more effectively.

Forensic Investigation (Crime and Intelligence Analysis Option): Advanced Certificate (Part-time)

The  Advanced Certificate in Forensic Investigation, Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity Option, trains you to be a specialist in computer forensics, handling information extraction and knowing how to identify information that is useful in a legal case and how to explain and present it in court. You'll take courses in criminal law, forensic evidence imaging and acquisition, cybersecurity, digital forensics, network security, cryptography, and more. Upon graduating, you will be able to function independently in roles such as police detective, provincial investigator, corporate security manager, and others, and as a member of multi-disciplinary teams composed of financial and investigative professionals.

Forensic Investigation (Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity Option): Advanced Certificate (Part-time)

The Advanced Certificate in Forensic Investigation, Forensic Science Option, provides a scientific approach to an applied discipline by exploring both the theoretical and practical aspects involved with forensics. The curriculum covers key areas required by forensic investigators, including, but not limited to: Canadian legal aspects, evidence and expert witness training, crime scene processing, case management, death investigation, biological aspects (DNA, anthropology, entomology, odontology, etc.), chemical aspects (fingerprinting, firearms/toolmarks, photography/video/imaging, etc.), physical aspects, and a variety of elective topics. Upon graduation, you'll be equipped to work in a forensic laboratory, police department, or coroner's office.
