Collection clerks

This instructional program class comprises any program that focuses on the systematic study of the economic development process and its application to the problems of specific countries and regions. These programs include courses in economic development theory, industrialization, land reform, infrastructural development, investment policy, the role of governments and business in development, international development organizations, and the study of social, health, and environmental influences on economic development.

Development economics and international development

This instructional program class comprises any program that focuses on the general study of business, including the processes of interchanging goods and services (buying, selling and producing), business organization, and accounting as used in profit-making and non-profit public and private institutions and agencies. The program prepares individuals to apply business principles and techniques in various occupational settings.

General Business Diplomas

Banking, insurance and other financial clerks compile, process and maintain banking, insurance and other financial information. They are employed by banks, credit companies, private and public insurance establishments, investment firms and other financial establishments throughout the private and public sectors.

Collection clerks collect payments on overdue accounts and bad cheques and locate debtors to make collection arrangements. They are employed by collection agencies, utility companies, department stores, loan companies, banks and credit unions, and by financial and licensing departments within governments.

General Business Certificates

The General Business Diploma prepares you for various aspects of business, including starting and managing a business, accounting, computer systems, marketing, sales, supply chain management and international business. In your first year, you’ll develop fundamental business skills such as accounting, economics, marketing and writing, and then customize your program with electives from other disciplines in your second year. Depending on your area of focus, you’ll be prepared to write industry certification exams in project management, supply chain management or international management.  

General Business Diploma

The two-year General Business Studies Diploma is a flexible diploma option, allowing individuals to select a variety of areas of study in the School of Business once they have fulfilled the core requirements of the program. Students may select their elective courses according to the following guidelines for specialization in Business Management or Marketing and have the specialization documented on their transcript.

General Business Studies Diploma

The Aboriginal Community Economic Development (ACED) Diploma is the second year of the ACED Certificate. As NVIT's ACED program fulfills the 16 competencies of the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers' (CANDO) technician status, upon completion of the second year, you have the option to apply for technician status with CANDO. In addition to the Diploma and CANDO Certification, the Diploma ladders into a Bachelor of General Studies Degree from Simon Fraser University. You have the opportunity to take this Degree in affiliation with SFU on the NVIT Campus.

Aboriginal Community Economic Development Diploma

The Urban Land Economics Diploma is a technical and specialized program. It has been designed for practitioners already employed in the real estate industry who want to upgrade their education, and for those seeking to join the industry. You'll complete a core curriculum that builds a foundation in real property law, economics, financial math, statistics, and valuation. You can then specialize in one of five areas of practice: Appraisal, Assessment, Real Estate Management, Development, or Brokerage.
