They provide care in the client's residence, where they may also reside. They are employed by home care and support agencies, private households, or they may be self-employed.

The Social Service Worker (Gerontology) Certificate program prepares graduates for employment in the community-based seniors’ services sector. This entry-level certificate program does not require applicants to have previous post-secondary experience.
