They are employed in information technology consulting firms and in information technology units throughout the public and private sectors.

The Bachelor of Science in Applications of Mathematics combines specialized courses that enable students to apply their mathematical skills in diverse fields, providing a broad range of options for careers or further education.  The discipline of mathematics is constantly evolving, creating exciting new theories, addressing challenging problems, and finding solutions to problems in engineering, business, the sciences, and the social sciences. Mathematics deals with data, measurement, observation, inference, deduction, and proof. You can choose from among three concentrations, Biomathematics, Computational Mathematics and Mathematics Education, that are not readily available at the undergraduate level elsewhere in Canada.

Applications of Math: Bachelor of Science Degree - Major or Honours

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics focuses on quantitative and computational methods as they apply to the physical world, applied, and social sciences. Along with learning theory, you'll develop skills in programming and computing to understand and create new analytical models used in science and technology.  Coursework is a balance of the theory, application, and scientific computing that help you develop quantitative skills. 

Applied Mathematics: Bachelor of Science Degree - Major or Honours

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Physics is about how the discipline integrates physics and mathematics to explain how the universe works, giving you skills to solve problems in research, teaching and management. Course topics include calculus, algebra, physics laboratories, vibrations and waves, computational physics, and more. You'll gain a strong foundation for careers or graduate work in physics, applied math and science or engineering.

Mathematical Physics: Bachelor of Science Degree - Honours

 This degree program provides students with the opportunity to study both computing science and mathematics in depth. The Bachelor of Science, Mathematics, allows you to obtain knowledge on the practical applications in many areas such as physical and life sciences, finance and economics, computing and information theory, social sciences, and even fine arts. There are opportunities to participate in seminars and do independent study and honors research projects with faculty members. The department also employs students as tutors in the Math Centre and for summer research projects. 

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematical Sciences is about subjects such as differential calculus, mathematical proof, matrix algebra, and much more as you establish a solid foundation in the mathematical sciences. You can emphasize mathematics, statistics, computer science, or any combination of the three to tailor your degree to your interests and career goals. You'll have the opportunity to work with various projects and institutions studying advances in math while at UBCV, and partake in Co-op programs. Upon graduation, you may find careers in the software industry, actuarial field, investment, banking, IT, and more.
