Musicians and singers perform with orchestras, choirs, opera companies and popular bands in establishments such as concert halls, lounges and theatres and in film, television and recording studios. This unit group also includes music teachers who usually teach in conservatories, academies and private homes.

Audio and video recording technicians operate equipment to record, mix and edit sound, music and videotape, for motion pictures, television and radio programs, videos, recordings and live events. They are employed by multimedia companies, film, video and concert production companies, sound recording firms, theatre and dance companies, educational establishments, clubs, hotels, bands, radio stations, television networks and video production and editing companies.

The Music Business Associate Certificate is entirely entrepreneurial in focus. This program is only for those who intend to pursue a career in music. Each course in this program has been developed from real-world music industry expertise. Courses are taught by a music industry veteran who will introduce you to a larger music community. You will develop the ability and confidence to create and promote your music while managing the behind the scenes aspects of any successful business.

Music Business: Associate Certificate (Part-time)

The Music Creativity and Performance Foundations Certificate is for students intending to pursue studies in music at the post-secondary level, and who may require additional learning, including theory/rudiments and one-to-one studio instruction. With a focus on performance theory, music creativity and performance practice, you'll master the foundational elements of your chosen area of musical study and have guided opportunities to explore aspects of creativity and practise in music. Upon completion of the Certificate in Music Creativity and Performance Foundations, graduates are well prepared to enter the Diploma in Music Performance program. 

Music Creativity and Performance Foundations Certificate

The Music Technologies Certificate is offered exclusively online through a partnership between the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Camosun College. Designed for accomplished musicians, this program will allow you to acquire a basic competency in digital technologies applicable to modern practice in professional music-making. You will learn about digital notation, music sequencing, digital instrumentation, audio recording, mixing and editing. Upon successful completion of the certificate, you'll be well-prepared to apply basic music technologies to the active practice of music in a professional or educational setting, or to continue to the advanced study of individual technologies for personal or professional use.

Music Technologies Certificate

The Basic Musicianship Certificate is for students with an interest in music but little or no formal training. You can also use it to upgrade your existing music skills to prepare for the Music Diploma program at Douglas. Through individual lessons, choral and instrumental ensemble work, and musical theory, you’ll deepen your understanding of music. You'll have the opportunity to audition for one of Douglas’s performance groups and get live performing experience through concerts, recordings and festival appearances.

Basic Musicianship Certificate

The Preparatory Certificate provides students with the foundation in music theory, skills development, and performance needed to successfully enter the VCC Music Diploma program.
