Statistical officers and workers in related research support occupations provide statistical and research support services to a wide range of businesses and organizations. These workers conduct statistical routines, monitor trends, compile data and prepare charts, graphs, summaries and reports in support of organizational information needs and research activities. They are employed throughout the public and private sectors. Statistical officers who are also supervisors are included in this unit group.

Data scientists use advanced analytics technologies, including machine learning and predictive modelling, to support the identification of trends, scrape information from unstructured data sources and provide automated recommendations. They are employed by consulting firms, universities, banks and information technology departments in the public and private sectors.

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics is about analyzing data using mathematical and computational tools to glean meaningful insights into scientific problems. You'll learn the fundamentals of probability theory, statistical computing, and statistical communication. A statistics degree prepares you for a future in a world where organizations and institutions need to make sense of vast amounts of data. You'll have the opportunity to participate in a co-op program, and upon graduation, will be prepared for careers in statistics and data in the pharmaceutical, gaming, financial, market research, or computer software industries.

The Combined Major in Statistics emphasizes the role of statistics within the general framework of problem solving, and help you develop an understanding of the concepts of observation, hypothesis, evidence, and validation. You can complement your studies with a combined major in Economics, Computer Science, or Mathematics.

The Bachelor of Science in Statistics provides you with a solid understanding in theoretical, computational, and applied aspects of statistical science. You can participate in co-op education placements to broad your skills and gain hands-on experience in your field of study.

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics emphasizes the role of statistics within the general framework of problem solving, and helps you develop an understanding of the concepts of observation, hypothesis, evidence, and validation. You'll learn more about critical statistical reasoning, with emphasis on the development of computational, mathematical, and communication skills, both oral and written. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared to work in various areas of science, such as business, engineering, government, and industry.

In the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Degree, you'll study numbers, arrangements, pattern and space. Develop your problem-solving skills and learn how to approach questions mathematically. This flexible program lets you combine different areas of mathematics in any way you want. The Major in Mathematics is a program broadly based in the mathematical sciences requiring courses in each of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, discrete mathematics, and statistics, and having enough elective choice to permit emphasis in any of these four areas.
