The Engineering Transfer Certificate is an introduction to engineering mechanics and project design in addition to a solid foundation in first-year science and English. When you’re finished, you’ll be ready to enter into the second year of a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Software Engineering at the University of Victoria. Or, you can apply for course-to-course transfer to engineering programs at other post-secondary institutions.

Engineering is a career for those interested in the physical structures and systems in our modern world. The work of an engineer involves analysis, design, planning, construction, and maintenance of structures and systems to ensure the reliable and safe use.

The Engineering and Fabrication Technologies Diploma gives you the practical skills in design and prototyping in our fabrication lab using industry-standard equipment. If you transfer to university to complete a bachelor’s degree in engineering, these practical skills will prepare you to apply for co-operative education placements. You’ll gain experience constructing and programming robots, using Raspberry Pi to control mechanical devices and using cutting-edge fabrication technologies such as water jet cutters and laser cutters. All academic courses in the Diploma in Engineering and Fabrication Technologies program are university transferrable, and will fulfil the requirements for the first year of a bachelor’s degree in engineering at most universities in BC.

Engineering First-Year at KPU is a two-semester program designed for well-prepared students to meet the requirements for direct transfer to the second-year of an engineering degree program. Langara's Engineering Transfer Certificate is a BCCAT articulated program providing courses to match the first year of engineering study at the University of British Columbia. Those courses satisfy the UBC Faculty of Applied Science requirements for engineering transfer classification when completed in the regular 2-semester academic year.
