This instructional program class comprises any program that prepares individuals to apply HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, graphics applications, and other authoring tools to the design, editing, and publishing (launching) of documents, images, graphics, sound, and multimedia products on the World Wide Web. These programs include courses in Internet theory; web page standards and policies; elements of web page design; user interfaces; vector tools; special effects; interactive and multimedia components; search engines; navigation; morphing; e-commerce tools; and emerging web technologies.

Web Design and Development Micro-credentials

Web designers develop and create the visual presentation, layout and functionality of websites and related applications. They are responsible for ensuring that the website is easy to use, and that the information is easy to access. Web designers are employed in computer software development firms, information technology consulting firms, information technology units throughout the public and private sectors, advertising agencies or they may be self-employed.

Web developers and programmers use a variety of programming languages to design, create and modify websites. They analyze users' needs to implement content, graphics, performance, and website capacity. They may also integrate websites with other computer applications. They are employed in computer software development firms, information technology consulting firms, information technology units throughout the public and private sectors, advertising agencies or they may be self-employed.

Introduction to Full-Stack Web Development Micro-credential

Web Development Foundations (WDF) is a microcredential aimed at those, with no related experience, who want to learn to build web pages and websites by hand. Students with no web coding background will be introduced to web scripting languages and tools by industry experts. Starting with the HyperText Markup Language (HTML), students learn to create documents for web browsers. They then practice building Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

Web Development Foundations (WDF) Micro-credential

Building on the introduction to UI design, the Intermediate UI Design course will expand your understanding and ability to build a complex design system from the ground up. You will learn how to build a design system to leverage fundamental principles of UI design, responsive design and accessibility. By the end of this course, you will have the necessary skills to deconstruct and construct design systems which will set you on the path to building engaging user interfaces and become a key contributor in any number of projects.


Intermediate UI Design Micro-credential

This course builds on the fundamentals of UX design and introduces information architecture, accessibility, responsive design, navigation structure and user testing. These elements of UX design will help you advance your understanding of good design, increase your expertise and create impactful experiences for users to help you become a key contributer to a wide variety of projects.

Intermediate UX Design Micro-credential

The Introductory UI Design will introduce the fundamentals of design as it pertains to user interfaces, and specific UI design principles that will help you build responsive, useful interfaces no matter the device. Whether you are new to design, transitioning to UI design or looking to expand your knowledge of design as a whole, this course will help you analyze, deconstruct, and create well designed user interfaces with the end-user in mind.

Introductory UI Design Micro-credential

An online portfolio can help increase your visibility as a creative professional. You can learn how to develop an online portfolio in this project-based workshop. Discover the benefits of online presence, basic copywriting, and best practices for project documentation to maximize your visibility online. Students will explore accessible pre-built website options and create a dynamic website presentation to showcase their work and experience. This course requires that you set up or have an existing website domain. To get the most out of this course, previous knowledge of or familiarity with Content Management Systems like WordPress or Squarespace is strongly recommended.

This micro credential is intended to provide you with the basic tools, to initiate the conception of a new product or enhance an existing one. User Experience Fundamentals Micro-Credential

This micro-credential provides students with the essential skills required to create compelling user experiences for desktop, tablet, and mobile users. Students will learn to plan, and design effective user interfaces based on aesthetic, psychological, scientific, and technological considerations.

User Experience (UX) Design Foundations

This Micro-Certification is developed in collaboration with Myant Inc. and supported by eCampus Ontario. OCAD U conducted over 30 user interviews with companies working in the start-up space. This market research revealed an explicit need for this specialized training. The challenge in identifying workers with these skills is hindering the development and success of their businesses.
