This career is eligible for Red Seal endorsement. When all levels of your trades training are complete, you can write an Interprovincial Red Seal exam. A successful result demonstrates you have met the national standard for your trade in Canada will allow you to practice your trade outside of B.C. in provinces and territories covered by the Red Seal certification.

Welders and related machine operators

This instructional program class comprises any program that prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills to the design and engineering of welding and joining systems and the implementation of welding processes. These programs include courses in materials science; computer-aided design; welding design; welding processes; welding metallurgy; automation and robotics; and codes, inspections, testing, and quality assurance.

Welder Modular Training

The 16-week Welder B program offers more advanced training on the topics in the Foundation program and also includes training in: Tungsten Arc Welding; and Pipe Welding.  Upon successful completion of Welder B and 950 work-place hours, welders receive a Certificate of Qualification as a B Welder and the B Stamp in their logbook from Skilled Trades BC. At the end of the Welder B program students will write the Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) Welder exam. Upon passing the Interprovincial exam and the accumulation of 4,500 work-place hours, Welders receive Red Seal, Interprovincial certification.
