The Bachelor of Arts Degree: French Cohort Program (FCP) in Public and International Affairs is a bilingual program that allows you to explore three fields of study on your path to a BA: Political Science, French and History. While studying, primarily in French, topics such as international diplomacy, Canadian policy and the French language, you will not only learn theory, you will apply it through hands-on experiences within the community and bilingual job opportunities. Upon graduation, you will have the opportunity to work in various fields requiring bilingualism.

1. High school graduation or equivalent 

2. English 12 (70%) or equivalent 

3. English 11 or equivalent 

4. One of: 
    - Science 12 
    - Math 12 
    - Equivalent 

5. Science 11 or equivalent 

6. Math 11 or equivalent 

7. Social Studies 12 or equivalent 

8. Social Studies 11 or equivalent 

9. Any approved Language 11 or equivalent 

10. One of: 
    - Language 12 
    - One additional course from List A 

11. One additional course from List A or List B 

12. Minimum five approved Grade 12 courses 


Academic Admission Requirement

1. The FCP normally admits in the fall term only and is most suitable for those entering directly from French immersion or Francophone secondary schools who plan to undertake full-time study. However, admission is not limited to such applicants and all interested students who have a high level of French are encouraged to inquire about admission. 

2. A French language placement test will be conducted to verify proficiency prior to enrollment. Contact the SFU student advisor to see if you would be eligible to apply: fcpmgr@sfu.ca

3. This program is recommended for:

    - French Immersion program and Programme francophone graduates
    - Students with French Language 12 (Core French)*
    - IB program students
    - College and University transfer students
    - International students*

*with a high level of French comprehension and expression.
