The Library and Information Technology Diploma prepares you for para-professional duties in libraries. You will spend more than one-half of your time learning library and related business techniques. Some of the program's courses are transferable to universities. Library course work involves lectures, field trips, field work and workshops. You'll also partake in two practicums.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (70%) or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Letter of intent (highlighting why you want to enter the field and what relevant skills you have that make yu suitable for the program)
2. Interview with program faculty which will assess:
- Communication skills
- Knowledge of the library and information field
- Emotional maturity and affinity to work with people
- Familiarity with basic computer operations 
3. Criminal record check

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Check the prerequisites in the course descriptions required for your program. For the purposes of course registration and program completion, you will need to meet the prerequisites of individual Arts and/or Science courses in the program. . If you are admitted into the Program on the basis of LEAP 8 completion or a TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or CAEL assessment score, you will be required to take the Langara English Placement test (LET) (or equivalent) before you can register an appropriate English course based on your score.
2. A minimum keyboarding speed of 30 words per minute is strongly recommended.

Admission Advice

Applications may be submitted starting 11 months before the intended program start date. Early application is recommended.		
		
The deadline to submit a complete application in order to be admitted for the fall, spring, or summer semesters is the first day of classes for that program-entry semester. A complete application includes a completed application form, application fee payment, and any supporting documents required. No applications will be accepted after the deadline date.
