The Bachelor of Accounting consists of eight Advanced Technical Specialty courses and 36 credits of General Education. Full-time students also have the option to complete a Workplace Education component. If you have completed a Accounting, Finance, or Financial Planning diploma, you can earn your Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc). This degree will provide you with an academic credential leading to a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation, a MPAcc (Master of Professional Accounting), or an MBA program. By completing this program, you'll will acquire technical, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills that you can utilize in a business environment.

Full-time: Competitive Entry
This program has a two-step admission process. Applicants must meet all  to be considered. All applications will be reviewed by the program area at the application deadline. Admission is competitive and will be offered to the most qualified applicants.

Preference will be given to applicants who are current full-time students in the BCIT Diploma in Accounting, Finance or Financial Planning programs. A limited amount of space may be allocated to other applicants. Applicants who meet all  and are not selected for the full-time stream will be offered admission to the part-time stream.

Applicants who are currently enrolled in the fourth term of the BCIT Diploma in Accounting, Finance or Financial Planning must be on track to complete all  prior to the start of the intake that they are applying for. Currently enrolled full-time BCIT diploma students applying for the full-time degree may be conditionally accepted based on successful completion of their diploma.

Part-time:
This program has a two-step admission process. Applicants must meet all  and will be accepted on a first qualified basis.

Step 1 for all applicants: Pre-entry assessment by the department

Applicants are required to complete a pre-entry assessment form to have their education assessed by the program area:
- Complete Part A and B of the Pre-Entry Assessment form 
- Save the form as a PDF document and email it as an attachment to bachelor_accounting@bcit.ca
- A program representative will contact you with instructions regarding next steps. In some cases, you may be asked to attend a program information session or to meet with the program head. You may be required to complete a bridging program or upgrade your marks in specific prerequisite courses before you can apply.

You can apply once you have a completed pre-entry assessment form signed by the program head and have completed any necessary bridging or upgrading courses. The completed pre-entry assessment form must be uploaded to your application to be considered for entry.

Step 2 for all applicants: Meet the following 

English: two years of education in English in an English-speaking country with one of the following:
English Studies 12 (67%) or
English First Peoples 12 (67%) or
Other acceptable BC and Yukon courses or
3.0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities or social sciences (67%) from a recognized institution

Post secondary education: A BCIT Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Financial Planning, or an equivalent diploma from another institution* with a minimum GPA of 70% and a minimum average of 65%** in the following second year subject sequences:
FMGT 3110 and 4110 (Intermediate Financial Accounting 1 and 2)
FMGT 3210 and 4210 (Cost and Managerial Accounting 1 and 2)
FMGT 3310 and 4310 (Auditing 1 and 2)***
FMGT 3410 and 4410 (Taxation 1 and 2)
FMGT 3510 and 4510 (Corporate Finance 1 and 2)
FMGT 4710 or 4720 (Advanced Computer Applications 2)

*BCIT will assess diplomas from other institutions for equivalency on an individual basis. Bridging courses may be required.

**Applicants with an average between 62% and 65% in no more than two second year subject sequences will be considered to have met this entrance requirement.

***Graduates of the BCIT Finance or Financial Planning diploma programs are not required to complete FMGT 3310 and 4310 as prerequisites for the Bachelor of Accounting.

Applicants who have completed post-secondary studies outside of Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia or New Zealand will require a comprehensive evaluation of their credentials by the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES). Credential evaluation reports from other Canadian services may be considered. These reports must include course-by-course evaluations and GPA calculations.

All students are required to have access to computer equipment with the capacity to perform the research, computing and processing functions required by each of the courses in the program.

International applicants

The full-time delivery option is available to international applicants. A valid study permit is required prior to starting the program.

The part-time delivery option is available to international students who currently have a valid status in Canada. A valid study permit is required prior to starting the program.

Students enrolled in this program must complete the mandatory work component to qualify for graduation. A co-op work permit is required prior to starting the work component.
