Overview
The Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma includes three areas of specialization: Mechanical Design, Mechanical Manufacturing, and Mechanical Systems. All students begin with a common first year covering engineering design, computer applications, CAD, manufacturing processes, materials science, communications, and applied mathematics. The Mechanical Design option focuses on machinery design, thermal and fluid systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation and controls, and computer-aided engineering. The Mechanical Manufacturing option emphasizes core mechanical engineering principles and problem-solving skills applied to production and fabrication processes. The Mechanical Systems option develops expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, energy management, and energy conversion for building systems.
