The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry is about nature of substances and the changes occurring in them. You'll have the opportunity to study analytical chemistry, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. A major or minor in chemistry or minor in biochemistry prepares you for a variety of careers in industry, education, ecology, and public service, or for graduate study and research in chemistry and many related fields.

1. High school graduation or equivalent 

2. At least a 65% average on the following five courses:

    - English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12
    - Pre-calculus 12 (67%)
    - Two academic Grade 12 courses
    - A fifth Grade 12 course (academic or elective, whichever has the highest grade) 
        - Approved Grade 12 courses can be found in High School Admissions.

3. Life Sciences 11 or Anatomy and Physiology 12 or equivalent 

4. Physics 11 or equivalent

Note: Approved Grade 12 courses can be found in High School Admissions. Anatomy and Physiology 12 can be counted as one of the Approved Academic Grade 12 courses. 


Academic Admission Requirement

1. Verify alternative prerequisites directly with UNBC's Future Student's Office.

2. Admission Average: for all provinces, the best grade of the five required grade 12 courses will be used. 

Admission Advice

Early applications are accepted up to one year in advance of the intended start date. The application deadline is March for the September and May entry, and November for the January entry. Students are encouraged to apply early in advance of application deadlines. Deadlines are subject to change and may be extended depending on seats availability. Verify with the institution for specific dates.

For international students, applications are not encouraged for the May semester, unless applicants are transferring from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
