Classroom instruction is delivered at the Prince George Campus and regional campuses in Fort St John, Terrace, and Quesnel. UNBC also enjoys an affiliation agreement with the Wilp Wilxo'oskwhl Nisga'a in the Nass Valley. 

The Prince George Campus opened in 1994 and is situated on a hill overlooking the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The campus, which enjoys 299 days of sunshine a year, boasts a fitness centre featuring the longest indoor track at a B.C. university, a health & wellness centre (providing counselling and nursing services), student-run pub, Pride Centre, Women’s Centre, and interfaith chaplaincy. On-campus housing is just 207 steps from the heart of campus, with suites featuring four private bedrooms. On-campus childcare services are available for students with children.

UNBC welcomes applications from anyone who can demonstrate academic potential but does not meet the requirements of the regular admissions routes.

UNBC Mature Students

If English is not your first language, regardless of your citizenship or country of origin, you must submit evidence of English language proficiency prior to admission in one of the following ways (minimum score):

- Completed five consecutive years of education in English immediately before admission (i.e. within two years of application)
- Completed high school education taught entirely in English at a recognized institution
- Completed two full years of full-time post-secondary level studies (or equivalent) at a recognized institution where English is the language of instruction
- English 12 (50%) or equivalent in the BC secondary system
- An university transferable English course (B or 75%)
- TOEFL internet-based = overall score of 90, with no sub-score less than 20 in each of the Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking components
- TOEFL computer-based = overall score of 230
- TOEFL paper-based = overall score of 570
- IELTS Academic = overall score of 6.5, with no subsection below 6.0
- UNBC English Language Studies 50 (C) and English Language Studies 170 (final grade of 'C')
- An articulated BCCAT English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 4 program (final grade of 'C')
- Advanced Placement (AP) English Language & Composition (final grade of 2)
- Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature & Composition (final grade of 2)
- International Baccalaureate (IB) English A1 or A2 (higher or subsidiary level) (final grade of 3)
- MELAB = overall score of 80, with at least 3 on the Speaking Rating Scale
- CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) or the CAEL CE Assessment = overall score of 70, with no subsection below 60
- Cambridge English Qualification C1 Advanced (B)
- PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic) = overall score of 65, with at least 60 in each of reading, writing, listening, and speaking 

Note:
1. French-speaking Canadians and Canadian First Nations language speakers are exempted from English language requirement for admission. 

2. Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program (NCBNP) has different English proficiency requirements.

To be considered a transfer student, you need at least 15 credit hours of acceptable university-level coursework from a recognized post-secondary institution. For admission, at least a grade point average (GPA) of UNBC 2.0 (63%) calculated on the most recent 30 credit hours of university-level coursework is required. GPA is calculated on the coursework completed for students with less than 30 credit hours but equal to or more than 15 credit hours.

UNBC Other Students and Special Consideration

Non-Competitive Entry Programs
Meeting the program-specific admission requirements and the minimum average needed to apply guarantees admission to non-competitive entry program. The admission average is calculated using:

- English 12 or BC First Peoples 12 or equivalent
- the next three highest academic Grade 12 courses
- an additional Grade 12 course (which can be elective or academic) 
- Competitive Entry Programs

Meeting the minimum average and course requirements for a competitive entry program does not guarantee admission, as space is limited in each program. A competitive average is established yearly based on that year’s applicant pool. Students above the established average may be offered early provisional admission. After the application deadline, students are admitted on a rolling basis as seats are accepted or declined. Deadlines may be extended based on capacity.
