The Nutrition and Food Service Management Diploma provides educational opportunities for individuals who wish to pursue a career in food service management and attain membership with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM). The focus of this accredited diploma program is on the health care sector. The curriculum incorporates core food service courses in food service management, operations, and nutrition combined with academic studies in related disciplines. You'll apply the concepts of food service management through a variety of practicum and fieldwork experiences.

2. English 12 (70%) or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Resume
2. Two reference letters that comment on your suitability for a career in food service management. One of the letters must be from an employer.
3. Letter of intent (one- to two-page) which explains why you want to enter the program and demonstrates they have an understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Nutrition Manager in a health care setting.
4. Valid FoodSafe Level 1 (Basic) or equivalent

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. To meet prerequisite requirements of the first-year English courses for this program, a placement test or completion of one or more additional English courses may be required.
2. Check the prerequisites in the course descriptions required for your program. For the purposes of course registration and program completion, you will need to meet the prerequisites of individual Arts and/or Science courses in the program. If you are admitted into the Program on the basis of LEAP 8 completion or a TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or CAEL assessment score, you will be required to take the Langara English Placement test (LET) (or equivalent) before you can register an appropriate English course based on your score.
3. Depending on the health policies of the fieldwork and practicum sites, you may need to have a flu shot or other vaccination/tests as well as a successful Criminal Record Check.

Admission Advice

Applications may be submitted starting 11 months before the intended program start date. Early application is recommended.		
		
The deadline to submit a complete application in order to be admitted for the fall, spring, or summer semesters is the first day of classes for that program-entry semester. A complete application includes a completed application form, application fee payment, and any supporting documents required. No applications will be accepted after the deadline date.
