The Bachelor of Arts in Languages, overall, consists of courses in French and Spanish language literature and culture, as well as a third language in German, Hebrew, Japanesse, Korean, and Mandarin. It is designed to improve skills in reading, composition and oral communication, and foster critical analysis of cultural material and intercultural understanding. You can spend a semester abroad studying and experiencing life in a Spanish-speaking or French-speaking environment.

Students must be admitted into Bachelor of Arts to pursue this program. 

1. High school graduation or equivalent

2. English 12 or equivalent

3. Minimum six academic/non-academic Grade 12 courses (recommended)

4. Grades presented in all relevant academic Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses that fall under these subject categories* will be looked at:
    - Language Arts
    - Mathematics & Computation
    - Second Languages 
    - Social Studies 
    - Visual and Performing Arts 
        - *Note: There is no minimum number of courses required for admission, but you are encouraged to challenge yourself with a substantial number of courses that are relevant to your intended area of study.

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. As a general admission requirement, one of English 11, English 12 or their equivalents is required. However, English 12 or equivalent is specified as a requirement into the program.

2. Students may declare a Major or Minor with this Bachelor of Arts degree. While coursework usually starts in the first-year, the Major can be declared after either 27 or 54 undergraduate credits depending on the program. Login to UBCV's SSC for more details. 

3. There is no Honours option available for the Languages - Bachelor of Arts program.
