Camosun College is located in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia. Our two campuses offer many different programs for a certificate, diploma, bachelor's degree and continuing education programs.

Each year Camosun welcomes over 1,100 Aboriginal students from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit groups, and over 1,700 International students from more than 80 countries.

The college welcomed its first students in 1971 and adopted the name “Camosun,” a local Lkwungen (Songhees) First Nation name meaning “where different waters meet and are transformed.” Today, Camosun College offers 160 innovative programs to help meet the needs of students and communities in Victoria and beyond.

Camosun's education offerings include: university transfer and applied degree programs; career and trades training; upgrading and preparatory programs; and, continuing education. 

They are large enough to provide great services and facilities for a vibrant campus environment on beautiful Vancouver Island, yet small enough to offer students the individual support, care and attention not found in most post-secondary institutions.

English proficiency for admission to most programs at Camosun College requires [English 12](https://calendar.camosun.ca/content.php?catoid=7&navoid=400) (C+) or equivalent. 

Students may meet the English proficiency requirement with one or more of the following alternatives:

- IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall (no sub-score less than 6.0)
- TOEFL iBT 78 overall (no sub-score less than 19)
- Duolingo English Test (DET)* 105 overall*
- PTE Academic 54 overall (no sub-score less than 50)
- Cambridge Assessment of English: C1 Advanced 174 overall (no sub-score less than 169)
- CAEL CE 60 overall (no -sub-score less than 60)
- GTEC CBT 1200 overall (minimum sub-score: Reading 325; Writing 270; Speaking 260; Listening 335)

Note(*): Duolingo English Test (DET) score of 105 is for General Admission to most Certificate and Diploma programs, and Bachelor of Business Administration programs (exceptions: Nursing and certain other Health-related programs). Score of 115 is for admission to Post-Degree programs (all majors) and Degree programs offered by [Centre for Sport and Exercise Education](https://camosun.ca/programs-courses/find-program?field_open_to_int_students_value=1&field_areas_of_study_target_id[369]=369&field_credential_target_id[257]=257).

CAM Application Dates

If you are at least 19 years old at the start of your first academic term, you are eligible for general admission to Camosun. You must also meet the specific admission requirements for your intended program. Find more details on admission requirements on the program profile.

CAM Mature Students

If you have completed post-secondary studies at another institution and wish to gain transfer credit*, visit the [Transfer Credit page](https://camosun.ca/registration-records/student-records/transfer-credit). The transfer credit evaluation process involves a form, a fee, and sealed official transcripts.

Footnote (*): Transfer credit is defined as academic work that is completed at another institution that is formally recognized as being equivalent to a Camosun course.

Each program has individual admissions requirements. To be considered for admission, you must meet or exceed the requirements for your chosen program. You must also meet the English proficiency requirement at a level suitable for your desired program.
