The Bachelor of Health Sciences Degree draws courses from the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities to provide you with a broad understanding of issues while preparing you for further studies in diverse areas such as community health, epidemiology, management and administration, medicine, occupational and environmental health, rehabilitation sciences and speech pathology. You'll take courses in a variety of disciplines, including the life sciences, social sciences, behavioural sciences, and ethics and law.

1. Minimum 70% average on the following five courses:
- Pre-Calculus 11 (70%) or equivalent
- Chemistry 11 (70%) or equivalent 
- English Studies 12 (70%) or equivalent
- Biology 12 (70%) or equivalent
- Two approved academic Grade 12 courses* 
a fifth Grade 12 course* (Academic or Elective, whichever has the highest grade)

2. Approved Grade 12 courses can be found in High School Admissions.

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Click here to see approved course list if your high school is completed outside of BC in other Canadian provinces. Verify alternative prerequisites directly with UNBC's Future Student's Office.

2. Admission Average = for all provinces, the best grade of the five required grade 12 courses will be used. 

3. Pre-Calculus 12 is recommended to meet course prerequisites of the Biomedical Studies Major. Prerequisite = Course that must be successfully completed prior to registering in a given course. 

4. Admission to this program is on a competitive basis. Meeting the minimum average and course requirements does not guarantee admission, as space is limited. A competitive average is established yearly based on that year’s applicant pool. Students above the established average may be offered early provisional admission. After the application deadline, students are admitted on a rolling basis as seats are accepted or declined. Deadlines may be extended based on capacity.

5. Self-identified Aboriginal applicants who meet or exceed the minimum requirements for admission to the program are given priority for up to 20% of the first-year seats for the Bachelor of Health Sciences program.
