Sprinkler Fitter
Sprinkler Fitters lay out, install, repair, modify, inspect, test and maintain fire protection systems in a variety of buildings and settings. They work on fire protection systems such as wet, dry, water mist, preaction, foam, deluge, standpipe, clean agent, carbon dioxide, hybrid, antifreeze, and wet and dry chemical fire suppression system. Their duties include reading and interpreting engineered drawings, installing hangers and clamps to support the piping system, preparing the pipe, joining pipe using a variety of methods and installing associated equipment.

Individuals who wish to begin an apprenticeship in this program must register with SkilledTradesBC along with their sponsor. Application forms for all programs are available from the SkilledTradesBC website. Online registration is also available for most programs through the SkilledTradesBC website. Those who wish to challenge the Sprinkler Fitter certification must complete the Sprinkler Fitter Challenge Application and submit it to SkilledTradesBC. Challenge applications are assessed for proof of workplace hours and scope of experience prior to acceptance of the individual into the Challenge pathway.
