Overview
Coast Mountain College (CMTN) provides a variety of face-to-face and online programs for learners locally, from across Canada, and from abroad.
They are an accredited post-secondary institution that offers university transfer, applied and post-degree diploma programs, career and trades training, adult upgrading, field schools, and Canada’s only Northwest Coast Art program.
The largest campus, in Terrace, has a state-of-the-art on-campus student housing building, library, cafeteria, and a fitness centre that is free of charge to all students. CMTN is proud to be the first institution in Canada with a traditional Longhouse on its campus grounds. They also have campuses in Smithers, Prince Rupert, Hazelton, and Haida Gwaii.
The College has many supports to help students succeed in their studies. Educational Advisors, First Nations Access Coordinators, Learning Assistance Specialists, and more can be found on each campus. Students can count on individual support from their instructors, small class sizes, and high quality education in any program they choose.
The experiential, place-based learning philosophy brings theory to life and strengthens the connection to local cultures and environments. As well, they are committed to supporting cross-cultural understanding, Indigenization of teaching and learning, and improved access to education for Indigenous students.
