In this program, you will complete two online courses that examine current research about the causes and treatment of mental health and substance use challenges for marginalized populations and participate in a two-day experiential workshop focused on motivational interviewing skills.

(Minimum grade)
1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. English 12 (60%) or equivalent 
3. Related Education and Work Experience

One of: 
Option A.
    - Completion of a degree or diploma in Health and Human Services or a related field
    - Two reference letters (if your degree or diploma was not completed at Selkirk College)

Option B.
    - Completion of a certificate in Health and Human Services or a related field
    - 2 years subsequent work in the Human Service field
    - Letter from the employer stating your work position and employment history
    - Resume that summarizes training and work experience
    - Two reference letters

Option C.
    - 5 years of related work experience in the Health and Human Services field
    - Letter from the employer stating your work position and employment history
    - Resume that summarizes training and work experience
    - Two reference letters (one of which confirms five years of work experience)
    - Completion of a Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test 

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. For practicum sites, applicants must be able to demonstrate vaccine expectations based on the Public Health Orders.

2. Resume, official copies of secondary and post-secondary transcripts, and two letters of reference would be required if the admission requirements were completed at Selkirk College.

3. Official post-secondary transcripts are required as proof of education training.

Admission Advice

Applications may be submitted up to 12 months before the program start date, in September. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Early application is recommended.

International students are advised to apply well in advance to allow for appropriate time for Study Permit processing.
