The Combined Major in Statistics emphasizes the role of statistics within the general framework of problem solving, and help you develop an understanding of the concepts of observation, hypothesis, evidence, and validation. You can complement your studies with a combined major in Economics, Computer Science, or Mathematics.

1. High school graduation or equivalent 

2. English 12 and English 11 or their equivalents (70% in one of them) 

3. Minimum six academic/non-academic Grade 12 courses (recommended)

4. Pre-Calculus 12 or equivalent

5. One of: 
    - Anatomy and Physiology 12 
    - Chemistry 12 
    - Physics 12 
    - Equivalent 

6. Pre-Calculus 11 or Foundations of Math 12 or equivalent 

7. Chemistry 11 or equivalent 

8. Physics 11 or equivalent 

9. A Language or waiver (includes all second language courses, excludes introductory Grade 11 language courses) 

10. Grades presented in all relevant academic Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses that fall under these subject categories* will be looked at:
    - Language Arts
    - Mathematics & Computation
    - Sciences
        - *Note: There is no minimum number of courses required for admission, but you are encouraged to challenge yourself with a substantial number of courses that are relevant to your intended area of study.

1. Entry to the program specialization (Major or Honours) occurs at the second-year level, following one year in basic undergraduate arts/science. Please visit UBCV's Department of Statistics webpage for more details regarding specializations in the Combined Major in Statistics program. 

Admission Advice

Applications must be submitted for most programs by January for September entry. Early application is recommended. Confirm dates with UBCV.
