The Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences allows you to gain a deeper understanding of the Earth. In Earth sciences, you’ll study the processes that shape our planet. You'll learn about the chemical and physical properties of rocks and minerals and examine the evolution of the solid Earth, oceans and atmosphere. Learn about environmental and biological change over time.

1. High school graduation or equivalent
2. All of the following Grade 12 courses:
    - English 12 (67%) or equivalent
    - Pre-calculus 12 (67%) or equivalent
    - Two approved science 12 courses

3. All of the following Grade 11 courses:
    - English 11 or equivalent
    - Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent
    - Chemistry 11 or equivalent
    - Physics 11 or equivalent
    - Social studies 11/12 or equivalent

Academic Admission Requirement

1. All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission. You can choose one of several ways to demonstrate language proficiency. You are not required to provide proof of language proficiency if you have studied full time for at least four years within Canada at the high school and/or post-secondary level, and all of your instruction has been in English.
2. Admission averages are calculated using all required Grade 12 courses for entry to a program. The actual admission average required for entry may be higher in the future due to increased competition and limited capacity.
3. You can declare this program as your major after one or more years of full-time study in the faculty of science.

Online applications to UVIC should be submitted by the following application deadlines:			
    - January for September program entry			
    - September for January program entry			
    - March for May program entry

The deadline to submit proof of language proficiency is typically one month after the application deadline. After you apply to UVic, your language-proficiency deadline will be indicated in your online application checklist.
