The Bachelor of Applied Music provides comprehensive training from working professionals in music theory, performance, and collaboration. You will learn advanced vocal, instrumental, or compositional techniques; solo and ensemble performance craft; production, communication, and stage skills; performance practice and learning new repertoire; advanced improvisation, and more.

1. Completion of VCC's Music Diploma (B) or equivalent and specialized performance or academic area (A-)

Academic Admission Requirement

1. Written proposal to the VCC music department outlining your goals and proposed program of work. This letter of intent must clearly state how the program will fit your career aspirations
2. Two letters of recommendation (written by persons other than family or close friends within three months prior to the application deadline) to assess your potential success in the degree and your ability to carry out the proposed plan of work
3. Audition in a specialized performance area (ie - voice, instrument or composition) or if you wish to pursue an academic stream, submit two recent 3500 word papers (written within 12 months prior to applying)

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. If English is not your first language and you are presenting foreign documents, you are required to do the VCC English Language Assessment with at least a total score of 145 along with 27/30 in speaking, 27/30 in listening, 16/30 in essay and 50/70 in reading.
2. An entrance audition or interview will be scheduled once all documents are received.
3. All requests for transfer credits or course exemptions must be submitted with your application.

Admission Advice

This program admits students based on a competitive selection process. 
 
The application deadline for international students who do not already have a valid study permit is in April. The deadline for applicants with a valid study permit is in June. Please check the website for specific application deadlines. All applicants are encouraged to apply early.
