The Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) Diploma program is designed to develop and enhance practical skills; increasing students' knowledge for a successful CADD career. This program prepares students for a career as a CADD/Drafting Technician. Using the most advanced CADD software, students will learn to produce drawings from concept sketches, design information, codes and specifications as per industry standards for production by builders and manufacturers.

1. Meet applicant category (high school, mature student, transfer student, etc.) 
2. English Proficiency
3. Satisfying Level E1 as defined in the Mathematics Alternatives Table, which consists of:
    - Pre-Calculus 11(C)
    - Foundations of Mathematics 11 (C+)
    - IB Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches SL (3 or C+)
    - IB Mathematics: Application & Interpretation SL (3 or C+)
    - KPU Mathematics Placement Test 
    - KPU MATQ 1089 (C+)
    - Successful placement by the CADD Math Test (score of 60%)

1. Attendance at CADD information session or an interview with a CADD department representative.

Additional Academic Admission Requirement

1. Aside from program entry/admission requirements, there are also specific course registration requirements (called prerequisites) which are listed within each KPU course description. In order to register for individual courses and complete the Computer Aided Design & Drafting Diploma Program without having to take any preparatory/upgrading courses, you need to one of the following: 
    - Pre-Calculus 12 (C)
    - Pre-Calculus 11 (B)
    - IB Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches HL (3 or C+)
    - IB Mathematics: Application & Interpretation HL (3 or C+)
    - IB Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches SL (4 or B)
    - IB Mathematics: Application & Interpretation SL (4 or B) equivalent as per Level C1 of the Mathematics Alternatives Table

2. The math requirements for each level of the Mathematics Alternatives Table is automatically satisfied by any higher level in the table. For example, the requirement 'Level C1 as defined in the Mathematics Alternatives Table' is fulfilled by any of the courses or tests listed on Levels A1 or B1, as well as C1.

3. KPU offers appropriate upgrading/qualifying courses if you are missing any prerequisites to register for courses in the Science program. This includes the English proficiency requirement to enter the undergraduate program at KPU. The Faculty’s pathway program may give you the option of taking English proficiency upgrading courses, while simultaneously taking a limited number of undergraduate courses at KPU before becoming eligible for admission to undergraduate studies.

4. If you have Drafting 11 and/or 12 from a BC Secondary School, you can challenge the CADD 1100 course by writing a Qualifying Assessment. 

5. The diploma program offers students two specialization options to choose from:
    - Architectural and Structural (Fall Admission Intake)
    - Architectural and Mechanical (Spring Admission Intake)

6. The Computer Aided Design Program offers three levels of credential options. The Citation and the Certificate are embedded within the Diploma. Students admitted into the Diploma program have an optional exit point after one or two semester(s) of coursework. Program completion requirements can be found on the program website. 
    - Diploma in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (62 credits) 
    - Certificate in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (32 credits)
    - Citation in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (16 credits)
