The Engineering Common Core Certificate program provides you with a supportive environment where you can achieve the highest grades possible before transferring to another institution to complete your degree in Engineering.

You spend the first year of an Engineering degree at UFV, covering topics such as linear algebra, structured programming, and mechanics.

1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. .English 12 (C+) or equivalent&#x20;
3. Pre-calculus 12 with a grade of B or better
4. Chemistry 12.
5. Physics 11. Physics 12 is strongly recommended

1. Due to the demand for this program, UFV students must enrol in at least 12 of the program courses in two consecutive semesters. Admitted students who do not enrol in the full program will be moved to the Bachelor of Science, provided they meet the BSc entrance requirements. Students who have already completed two or more program courses or who intend to spend two years at UFV should apply to the Bachelor of Science program instead.                                                 &#x20;
2. Students must be academically strong to successfully complete the Engineering Common Core certificate. This program is best suited to students with a B average or better.

1. Seats will be competitively awarded based on the average of Chemistry 12, Physics 12, and Pre-Calculus 12. If these courses are not completed at the time of application, then the grades for the corresponding Grade 11 courses will be substituted. In all cases, if both the Grade 11 and 12 courses have been completed, then the better of the two grades will be used to calculate the GPA for admission. Students who do not have at least a B average in these three courses will not normally be considered for admission. Conditional admission may be granted to students with courses in progress at the time of application.

Applications are accepted to the Fall semester only and will open on October 1 of the year prior. The application deadline is January 31 of the year of admission.
